Axel-In-Charge: Navigating the "Civil War II" Landscape, Bringing DMC to Marvel
In an imaginative bit of tie-in marketing, Norton Antivirus goes “Behind the Shield” of Captain America: The First Avenger with a featurette that examines — you guessed it — our hero’s shield. Hey, it makes more sense than that Farmers Insurance/X-Men: First Class crossover.
It’s a decent video, though, mixing quotes from the likes of director Joe Johnston and stars Chris Evans and Dominic Cooper with comments from Marvel editors Joe Quesada, Axel Alonso and Ralph Macchio to offer a pretty well-rounded (sorry) overview of the history of Captain America’s shield and its use in the upcoming movie.
Captain America: The First Avenger, which opens on July 22, also stars Hayley Atwell, Hugo Weaving, Sebastian Stan, Toby Jones, Stanley Tucci, Richard Armitage, Natalie Dormer, Neal McDonough and Samuel L. Jackson.
Captain America: The First Avenger will focus on the early days of the Marvel Universe when Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) volunteers to participate in an experimental program that turns him into the Super Soldier known as Captain America. As Captain America, Rogers joins forces with Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan) and Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell) to wage war on the evil HYDRA organization, led by the villainous Red Skull (Hugo Weaving).
