Powers Finds Its Retro Girl

FX’s Powers pilot has cast the key role of Retro Girl, the popular superheroine whose murder propels the first arc of the comic by Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Avon Oeming.

In an interview Friday on Sirius Satellite Radio’s Geektime, Bendis revealed that model and T-Mobile spokeswoman Carly Foulkes will play the character, whose homicide marks the first case for new partners Christian Walker and Deena Pilgrim. Foulkes joins Jason Patric as Walker, Lucy Punch as Deena Pilgrim, Charles S. Dutton as Captain Cross and Bailee Madison as Calista.

Powers is a police procedural that follows two detectives who investigate cases involving “powers” (people with superhuman abilities) in a world where superheroes and supervillains are common. Walker is a veteran investigator who was a power before he lost his abilities, while Pilgrim is a rookie cop with a secret.

The pilot is written by Charles “Chic” Eglee, former executive producer of The Walking Dead, and directed by Michael Dinner (Justified, Sons of Anarchy). Eglee and Dinner serve as executive producers along with Bendis, Oeming and David Engel. Sony Pictures Television and FX Productions will co-produce.

I thought I wasn’t a Bendis fan, but he always delivers on Geektime, Friday’s at noon on Howard 101.

I hope she is a better actress than she is pitchwoman.  She always seems amazingly uncomfortable in the T-Mobil commercials.

I wonder how she’ll look as a blonde?

This is, of course, assuming that her role involves more than just being dead. :)  (I don’t know the storyline as I have not read Powers)

Dead Sexy, LOL… You know, because she’s going to be dead.
