Watch First Teaser For Mission: Impossible — Ghost Protocol

Paramount Pictures has unveiled the action-packed teaser trailer for Mission: Impossible — Ghost Protocol, which sees star Tom Cruise playing IMF agent Ethan Hunt for a fourth time. I’m not a fan of the franchise, but I’m bowled over by this trailer; it’s pretty amazing.

Produced by Tom Cruise, J.J. Abrams and Paula Wagner, Ghost Protocol marks the live-action directorial debut of Brad Bird (The Incredibles, The Iron Giant). The film, which also stars Jeremy Renner, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg and Josh Holloway, opens Dec. 16.

I have no love for the M:I movies (I somehow find them boring as hell) but that looks pretty amazing. Brad Bird as director REALLY gives me hope. Incredible was a great action-spy movie.

You had me at Brad Bird.

Brad Bird? Could be a winner! Too bad the video has already been removed by the IP police.

The video is still there. Try again.

I never thought I would say this but, “I’m going to see this Mission Impossible film.” I will now sit in the corner & wait patiently for the apocalypse.

Tom Cruise is a very interesting actor. On some levels he’s a very interesting and really likeable star, in other instances he can be extremely annoying. I think that coming off a slight hiatus (with his hysterical role in Tropic Thunder) and teaming with Brad Bird, Hawkeye (YES he will now be only know as Hawkeye), Simon Pegg, and one of the most beautiful women in the world…I think this movie can work.

How is this a *teaser* trailer? Looked like a regular trailer to me.

  • Flip Maker

It doesn’t give us a real solid sense of what the story is about, so, yeah, it’s a teaser.

It doesn’t? Hunt’s team is framed for bombing the Kremlin. All of the members are disavowed. They’re trying to figure out who really did it and clear their names. The only way to do it is ridiculously hard.

I liked all the films, but really enjoyed them once they became more action and less “smart.” Maybe it was just me, but I did not get the first movie at 11 years old.

  • Mythos

I actually really like the first and, to a lesser extent, third Mission Impossible movies.
Now, this has Josh Holloway, Jeremy Renner, Simon Pegg, Tom Wilkinson… not to mention the director. It could be very, very good.

  • Mike Thompson

Brad Bird is always a winner with me. One of the best cinematic storytellers around.

  • Mr. M.

Yeah, what Jacob said.  I consider teasers just a few seconds of footage, or footage that doesn’t reveal anything other than a character or a setting, then the logo.  Maybe that’s the old style of teaser.  This is a straight-up trailer, not that there’s anything wrong with that.

Regardless, I have a lot of respect for Brad Bird, so I hope this does well for him (and Paula Patton).

Interesting sidebar, Tom Cruise and M&M are EXACTLY the same height.

They ruined this for me when they decided that China is not a threat to the West while the moribund Russia is. Second, Eminem? Really?

Well, like Cate Blanchett said once: “The World is changed…”. For the worse.
