Captain America TV Spot Reveals Character’s Modern-Day Discovery

The latest television spot for Marvel’s Captain America: The First Avenger begins with a glimpse of the scene many fans have been waiting for since at least 2008, when they glimpsed an icy Easter egg on The Incredible Hulk DVD: the discovery of a frozen Steve Rogers in the present day. The 30-second commercial doesn’t give it all away, be it at least shows the setup, with a parka-clad team entering a large object — an airplane? a submarine? — to stumble upon a snow-covered shield.

Directed by Joe Johnston, Captain America: The First Avenger stars Chris Evans, Hayley Atwell, Hugo Weaving, Sebastian Stan, Toby Jones, Stanley Tucci, Richard Armitage, Natalie Dormer, Dominic Cooper, Neal McDonough and Samuel L. Jackson. It opens on July 22.

Captain America: The First Avenger will focus on the early days of the Marvel Universe when Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) volunteers to participate in an experimental program that turns him into the Super Soldier known as Captain America. As Captain America, Rogers joins forces with Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan) and Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell) to wage war on the evil HYDRA organization, led by the villainous Red Skull (Hugo Weaving).

I saw this last night, I was surprised it’s something they didn’t just save for the movie.

What spoiler? They revealed he was frozen during WWII fifty years ago.

Nope. MIA since 1944 (or was it ’45?).

Was trying to make a joke, but unfortunately, my sarcasm was unable to translate with a single sentence. But I do appreciate the intended help. :)

All the progress made with HTML and we still have no way to detect sarcasm. Fail, Internet, fail.

Because apparently nobody reads comics anymore.

    Especially not screenwriters.

Spoilers that we didn’t know the movie would end this way. This site sucks with spoilers, why do I keep coming here?

My guess is that the movie begins with the discovery, then is told in flashback. Just a guess.
