Warner Bros. has acquired the rights to Undying Love, the new vampire-action comic by Tomm Coker and Daniel Freedman, Heat Vision reports. Stephen L’Heureux and Benderspink are producing.
Debuting from Image Comics in March, the eight-issue miniseries is described as “a horror-action tale, equal parts vampire mythology and Chinese folklore.” Set in modern Hong Kong, Undying Love follows ex-soldier John Sargent, who follows for a beautiful woman named Mei only to discover she’s a vampire. To free Mei from her curse, Sargent must destroy the powerful vampire that created her and battle an army of monsters in the Hong Kong underworld.
“Undying Love is an action-horror story. It’s fantasy and romance,” Coker told Comic Book Resources in March. “It’s about two people overcoming enormous odds to be together. It’s got something for everyone. Even the ‘Twihards.’ It’s an unlikely love story filled with action and monsters — but no matter how gritty or blood-soaked it becomes — at its core Undying Love is a romance.”
Coker and Freedman will write the screenplay. You can read a preview of Undying Love #1 at Comic Book Resources.
Benderspink, which recently renewed its deal with Warner Bros.’ New Line division, just last month set up an adaptation of the DC Comics series The Mighty at Paramount Pictures.
