Harry Lennix Joins Man Of Steel

Dollhouse actor Harry Lennix has signed on to Warner Bros.’ Man of Steel, Variety reports.

He’ll play a high-ranking officer named Gen. Swanwick, joining recent addition Christopher Meloni (Law & Order: Special Victims Unit), who’ll also portray a general in the Zack Snyder-directed franchise reboot.

The confirmed stars so far are Henry Cavill as Superman, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, Kevin Costner as Jonathan Kent and Michael Shannon as General Zod. The cast is also said to include Russell Crowe as Jor-El, Julia Ormond as Lara and Antje Traue as Zod’s henchwoman Faora.

Lennix, who appeared in State of Play and Little Britain USA, also had a recurring role on the Fox drama 24.

Man of Steel is written by David S. Goyer from a story by Goyer and Nolan. Charles Rovan, Emma Thomas and Deborah Snyder also are producing. Thomas Tull and Lloyd Phillips are executive producers. Filming is expected to begin in August.

Let’s not forget that Henry Lennix was Commander Lock in the Matrix Sequel(s). This cast is coming along great, but the rumors of the story being based on Superman Birthright is seriously underwhelming me. Some of us MAY die of boredom.

How about showing some balls and pushing Superman to his limits physically and emotionally, even psychologically? Ever read Action Comics #700 by Mark Miller and Doug Mahnke? Total balls to the wall. Bring it people, we’re getting tired of the same old dung heaps of hollywood.

Correction: I meant Action Comics #775.

As long as Chris Nolan is around to reign in David Goyer–who, thank the Universe, isn’t directing–because his lack of restraint and, frankly, good taste, kills potential film franchises.

The last film in the Blade trilogy being an example of his remarkably destructive powers.
