Vaughan & Chiang's "Paper Girls" Builds a Familiar Yet Disconcerting World
David Goyer has been occasionally inconsistent in the TV world, but his movies resume is first class all the way. Three Christopher Nolan Batman movies, three Blade movies, Dark City, Jumper … errr … wait a sec. Forget I said Jumper. The point is, the man knows his fanfolk. That’s why you ought to be excited about today’s news, that Goyer has been hired to pen the upcoming Godzilla reboot.
Goyer will be working off of a first draft from David Callaham for Legendary Pictures, Deadline reports. Monsters helmer Gareth Edwards is still attached to direct. That’s really all there is to say at this point. We can cheer for Goyer, though. You wouldn’t think a movie about a giant, fire-breathing lizard trashing New York City could possibly fail, but that 1998 attempt from Roland Emmerich was an unmitigated disaster.
Velociraptors? Really?? As long as Goyer keeps the baby ‘Zillas far, far away from his script, I think we might be onto something here.
