First Look At Liam McIntyre In Starz’s Spartacus: Vengeance

Entertainment Weekly has unveiled three images of Liam McIntyre in the title role in Spartacus: Vengeance, the second season of Starz’s hit sword-and-sandals drama. The Australian actor replaces original star Andy Whitfield, who left the series in September to undergo further cancer treatments.

In addition, the cable channel has released a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it teaser for the new season, which finds Spartacus and his fellow Gladiators now out of Capua and engaged in an all-out slave rebellion against Rome.

McIntyre will be officially introduced next Friday during the Spartacus presentation at Comic-Con International in San Diego. He’ll appear with Dustin Clare, Lucy Lawless, Manu Bennett and Katrina Law and executive producer Steven S. DeKnight.

Honestly, without being told they’re different people, I’d never notice. I don’t think most viewers will either.

Thought the same thing when I saw that publicity shot.

A decent likeness, though it is hard to match Andy’s striking eyes and carved cheekbones.

I hope this guy does well, and wish Mr Whitfield all the best in his fight with cancer.

Ya know, Spartacus has some of the best fans. You guys have been incredibly supportive of Whitfield during all of this, instead of crucifying Starz for recasting (which looked like par for the course with internet fans these days).

I hope they have a plan for if Andy Whitfeild can beat his cancer, and come back to play Spartacus…

Depends on Liam’s contract I suppose.

When I read he pulled out of a movie and didn’t honor his commitment to another film he lost me forever. How can he have honor as Spartacus when he behaves like this. Check this out.

RIP Andy. Too young to die! You are the original and the best! Liam has big shoes to fill.
It will be hard for him knowing that he’s taken over from a legend in the making
Who died too young. Good luck Liam, i hope all the other fans give you
    A chance.

Good enough resemblance I suppose, though nobody will ever be able to replace Andy. I give my best wishes to Andy and his battle, and hope this new comer will make us all proud including Mr. Whitfield himself. We will miss you, the one and only Spartacus, but I welcome Liam to try.
