INTERVIEW: Spencer Declassifies "Captain America: Steve Rogers'" Hydra Secrets, Cosmic Connections
While Marvel was careful to withhold the post-credits scene from press previews of Captain America: The First Avenger, the studio left it intact for special audience screenings, which means, of course, that first details and now bootleg footage have found their way online. Warning: Spoilers below, I guess?
Given that Captain America, which opens Friday nationwide, is the last Marvel movie before The Avengers, it comes as no surprise that the sequence isn’t merely a clever Easter egg or a cameo by Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury but rather a full-on teaser for the Joss Whedon-directed film. The one-minute clip, which you can watch below — at least until Marvel or Paramount intervenes — features fast-paced shots of the major players and the clever slogan “Some Assembly Required.” The cellphone-captured footage is dark and shaky, so it’s difficult to make out the details, but the sequence was enough to electrify the crowd.
Hopefully between the premiere of Captain America and the marketing push by Marvel at Comic-Con International, we’ll get an official version of the teaser by the weekend.
The Avengers, which opens May 4, 2012, stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Jeremy Renner, Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson, Clark Gregg and Samuel L. Jackson.
