Captain America Post-Credits Scene Leaks, Teases The Avengers

While Marvel was careful to withhold the post-credits scene from press previews of Captain America: The First Avenger, the studio left it intact for special audience screenings, which means, of course, that first details and now bootleg footage have found their way online. Warning: Spoilers below, I guess?

Given that Captain America, which opens Friday nationwide, is the last Marvel movie before The Avengers, it comes as no surprise that the sequence isn’t merely a clever Easter egg or a cameo by Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury but rather a full-on teaser for the Joss Whedon-directed film. The one-minute clip, which you can watch below — at least until Marvel or Paramount intervenes — features fast-paced shots of the major players and the clever slogan “Some Assembly Required.” The cellphone-captured footage is dark and shaky, so it’s difficult to make out the details, but the sequence was enough to electrify the crowd.

Hopefully between the premiere of Captain America and the marketing push by Marvel at Comic-Con International, we’ll get an official version of the teaser by the weekend.

The Avengers, which opens May 4, 2012, stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Jeremy Renner, Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson, Clark Gregg and Samuel L. Jackson.

This actually looks good. It’s really amazing how, for the most part, Marvel knows how to market and translate their characters to movies while DC is, with the sole exception of Batman, utterly inept.

DC’s Superman movie already sounds like it’s creatively in deep trouble. Using Mark Waid’s ineffably BORING “SUPERMAN BIRTHRIGHT” as a template for the story script was a DUMBASS  move. I would have had Grant Morrison write the script – he’s freely acknowledged by almost every comics fan to have written the best Superman story EVER. What is so difficult for this movie Executives to understand about that?!!

They way Warner Bros has been managing these DC movie properties, with the exception of Batman, they deserve to fail.

This is gonna be awsome!!! :DDD

    wow!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Kayzer

    WOW!
    goosebumps.
Incredible, but it seems that an ond man can be still excited for superhero things after all these years. If this is the end of the superhero at cinemas trend, looks like a BIG way to end this age.
I really want to see this one now. It looks like a real winner.

  • Johnno

Where’s the Hulk? Couldn’t make out… They should work out some deal to get a Spidey cameo too for next time.

  • Ssteve1011

Can any one tell me where I can find the clip

  • http://www.spinoffonline.com Kevin Melrose

  • Lead_sharp

ultimate avengers? oh well, I was looking for an out on comic movies, there it is.

  • Lead_sharp

I’ve been looking, I may have been wrong but does Thor have the cape in that last hammer throwing shot? It looks like, I hope so. This is starting to look like there ashamed of the source material all over again and I’m getting a little sick of my superhero movie having no ‘super’ in it.

  • http://twitter.com/hysanadu hysanadu

Wait…are you actually complaining about Thor not wearing a cape when he wore it in the Thor movie?  Seriously?  That’s your complaint?

  • Anonymous

Aint gonna happen. There’s no way in hell Sony will give up their movie ownership of Spidey.
Would it be awesome as hell if it happened? Yeah! Will it ever happen? Probably not anytime in the foreseeable future.

    Better Waid’s than Geoff’s :)

  • spookymulder8

They could at least throw down a Daily Bugle newspaper with Spidey’s image on it… No reason why Sony and Marvel can’t work out a few cool little things like that… but yeah… there’s always some issue or another in the way…

  • Cjorg2

Here I was thinking that Cory Jameson actually had something positive to say about something without it degenerating into a negative rant.  What was I thinking? : )

  • Cjorg2

A guy dressed in red and gold armour.
A guy dressed in a red, white, and blue outfit carrying a shield.
    A mysterious Russian superspy.
An expert marksman able to shoot the wings off a fly.
And finally, a God of Freakin’ Thunder!

You’re a little sick of your superhero movie having no “super” in it?  WTF?  Are we watching the same freakin’ trailer?!?!?!?!?

    Pull your head in…

  • Jmcreer

With that attitude, I for one am glad I won’t have to sit next to such a negative nanny such as yourself.  Feel free to stay at home more often.
