CCI | The Amazing Spider-Man Trailer Hits The Web A Little Early

After squinting and straining on Tuesday to make out the bootleg footage, this morning we’re treated to the actual teaser trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man in glorious HD. The trailer had been set to premiere Thursday ahead of Captain America: The First Avenger, but somehow found its way online a little early.

The studio will bring director Marc Webb and stars to Comic-Con International in San Diego Friday for a presentation in Hall H.

The franchise reboot, opens on July 3, 2012, Rhys Ifans, Martin Sheen, Sally Field, Irrfan Khan, Denis Leary, Chris Zylka, Campbell Scott, C. Thomas Howell, Julianne Nicholson and Annie Parisse.

I like the wall crawling point of view. That was really cool.

Looks like the protogoblin will play a bigger role than I thought (The Lizard seemed to be the only thing that was talked about most, I’ve barely read any mention of Nels Van Atter besides the fact that he’s in the movie)…I’m assuming anyway because it’s his voice when he says “You have no idea what you really are.”

Can’t believe I have to go through a year to see this. Awesome.

Its strange to me for some reason. The Raimi trilogy seemed more like the old fashioned more campy Spider-man, but with Ultimate Spider-man’s awesome web powers. I always liked that better, as I always thought it was nuts to make a guy get bitten by a radioactive spider, but not get webs as his first and foremost power! When i think ‘spider,’ I think spider webs. But that’s besides the point, I just liked that he had his own webs, as it removed what I have always seen as a gimmick for ‘extra’ drama at just the wrong moment (a cartridge runs out mid flight/fall, while he’s carrying someone and can’t easily switch).

This new one feels a lot more like Ultimate Spider-man to me. I like the inclusion of his parents in the intro… I think they might come back to that if this is a trilogy (I would love to see Ultimate Venom, but done right). BUT he has those darn web shooters…. ugh! I KNOW there will be some mid air moment where he has to juggle switching shooters with some other task…. Who knows though… I’m sure with today’s effects (this will be 3D I’m sure, that first person scene WILL give people a heart attack)… it could be awesome either way. I hope he at least has some what of a sense of humor, or at least some wicked sarcasm.

After the disaster that was Spider-Man 3, I’ve had trouble getting into the idea of a new one, but man, I am pumped for this. I generally dislike the 3D, but I’ll probably give this one a shot as 3D.

As someone mentioned above, it has a big USM vibe ad I love that. Conversely, I love the mechanical webshooters. Having that aspect of Parker’s personality as a big part of his superhero identity was always of interest to me and I felt the organic webshooters detracted from that a bit.
