Guggenheim Says Ward Switching Sides Leads "Agents of SHIELD" into "Civil War II"
A few days after low-resolution scans made their way online, Empire magazine has premiered the real thing — the first stills from Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance, the sequel to Columbia Pictures’ 2007 film. We get a peek at a scary-eyed Idris Elba as the motorcycle-riding monk Moreau, Nicolas Cage looking, well, Nicolas Cage-y as Johnny Blaze and, best of all, Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor’s take on Marvel’s flaming antihero and his ride.
Spirit of Vengeance, which opens Feb. 17, 2012, picks up several years after the events of the first film, with the tormented Blaze in self-imposed exile until he’s approached by Moreau to protect a mother and her young son from Roarke/Blackout (Johnny Whitworth), who possesses detailed knowledge of Ghost Rider. (Don’t miss Comic Book Resources’ exclusive interview with Whitworth from Comic-Con International.)
The photos and accompanying article appear in the new issue of Empire, on sale now.
