The Rock Cooks Up First Look At Himself As Roadblock In G.I. Joe 2

Although filming doesn’t actually begin until later this month on the recently retitled G.I. Joe 2: Retaliation, star Dwayne Johnson, aka The Rock, is already hard at work on the sequel to 2009’s G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra. How do we know? Because Johnson has tweeted photos of himself as Roadblock holding his weapon, and striking a pose at NASA before combat training.

“Found my gun today! M249 SAW,” Johnson tweeted with the first photo. Slipping into his Rock persona, Johnson asked “Guess who/what I envision in my crosshairs,” a veiled “threat” directed toward WWE superstar John Cena. Johnson has been utilizing the social media platform since April to promote the promised WrestleMania 28 clash between the two superstars in April, 2012.

Directed by Jon M. Chu, G.I. Joe 2: Retaliation also stars Channing Tatum, Adrianne Palicki, Ray Stevenson, Ray Park and Byung-hun Lee. It opens on June 29, 2012.

It’s nitpicky, but the Rock and John Cena will face off at Wrestlemania 28 in April 2012 in Miami. Rock hosted Wrestlemania 27 this year in Atlanta.

    Wow Roadblock. You got pale.

It’s ridiculousmhow goddamned jacked Dwayne the rock is….and u know this cat ain’t juicing, apparently he’sthe nicest guy in the world!

  • Shifty

Oh yeah, a friend of mine met him, and he said he’s the biggest teddy bear of niceness you’d ever meet.

  • Shifty

While seeing this guy as the Roadblock will be cool,  The premise of this movie bugs me since Cobra Commander, Destro and the Baroness are not appearing in the film.  I’m not sure what the plot is supposed to be.

Being an ex-marie, i myself have had the pleasure of operating a saw in the field. It is an awesome weapon to wield in combat, and requires alot of power to operate effectively. I dont think the Rock will have any problems though, he is the man. Been a fan of his since he was still a bad guy on WWE around 98′. Heres hoping that the Joes sequel will be a bit grittier and more realistic than the first.
