Vaughan & Chiang's "Paper Girls" Builds a Familiar Yet Disconcerting World
World War Z is really, finally happening, and the cast just keeps getting better and better. Brad Pitt is already confirmed to star as the U.N. investigator investigating the state of the world in the aftermath of a zombie apocalypse, and he’ll be joined by Mireille Enos and James Badge Dale. Now The Hollywood Reporter reveals that Breaking Bad star Bryan Cranston is in talks for a part as well.
The character isn’t identified, although THR reveals Cranston would play a “small but flashy role” in the larger story which, if it’s anything like the Max Brooks novel, will unfold as an oral history (presumably with flashbacks, since this is a movie we’re talking about) of the war as seen through many different eyes. I could totally see Cranston in the role of some heroic army general who sacrifices himself to save his squad. Whatever the role is, it will probably be quite a change from the cancer-ridden meth cook family man he plays on Breaking Bad.
