Bruce Willis May Play Original Joe In G.I. Joe 2: Retaliation

Bruce Willis is in talks to play Gen. Joe Colton, the original Joe, in G.I. Joe 2: Retaliation, Heat Vision reports. The news isn’t exactly a surprise, as the veteran actor was said early last month to be Paramount Pictures’ top choice for the role.

Introduced in 1989 in Marvel’s G.I. Joe comic series, Colton was the officer appointed by President Kennedy to create and command the “ultimate freedom-fighting force,” for which he received the codename G.I. Joe.

Directed by Jon M. Chu, the sequel to 2009’s The Rise of Cobra already stars Channing Tatum, Dwayne Johnson, Adrianne Palicki, Ray Stevenson, Ray Park and Byung-hun Lee. The film, which begins shooting later this month in New Orleans, opens June 29, 2012.

What happened to Dennis Quaid’s General Hawk…?

Why is Channing Tatum still attached to this film? This isn’t the type of cast that will elevate him. This cast will make his acting look even more wooden than the first one.

I use the Hayden Scale when judging whether a performance is wooden or not. Was Channing’s performance more plywood then Hayden Christianson’s Anakin Skywalker? I would say no, therefore he is watchable.
