Bradley Cooper Leaves The Crow

Scheduling conflicts have led Limitless star Bradley Cooper to abandon The Crow, director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo’s “reinvention” of the 1994 box-office hit.

However, Heat Vision reports that Relativity Media already has its eye on two potential replacements to step into the role of the young rocker turned supernatural vigilante. One is Mark Wahlberg, who was offered the part last fall and signed on to the comic-book adaptation 2 Guns just last week. The other is Channing Tatum, who begins shooting G.I. Joe 2: Retaliation later this month.

Based on the 1989 comic by James O’Barr, The Crow centers on a young musician who’s killed while trying save his fiancee from street thugs, only to be resurrected by supernatural forces. He seeks vengeance against his murderers, methodically stalking the thugs and killing them. The original adaptation, released by Miramax, was a critical and commercial success that achieved cult status, in part, because of the on-set death of star Brandon Lee. It spawned three movie sequels and a short-lived television series.

Writer-musician Nick Cave (The Proposition, The Wettest County in the World) penned the most recent draft of the script, but Relativity signaled in April that it would bring in a new screenwriter to work with Fresnadillo.

This is the best news I’ve heard today, now if only the “remake” would just get canceled…

    Channing Tatum…I’m gonna puke

  • Another Ian

Why don’t they just cast Michael Cera since they obviously don’t understand the concept of the story.  The Crow: Return of the Hipster.
Thinking of Bradley Cooper trying to be all goth and out for revenge was bad enough…but Channing Tatum?  Mark Wahlberg??

I think that this remake is completely disrespectful to the memory of Brandon Lee. There will only be one Eric Draven in my opinion!

given all the trouble its taking to get the crow film made. figured it would proably wind up with brad being the next one to run away from the project. and channing tatum being considered for draven another sign the crow does not want to be made as a film . the crow curse strikes again

What about Naomi Rapace as a female Crow?

Think she might pass as a goth rocker?  ;-)

Ok I see I am not alone that Bradley Cooper would have been a bad choice for this type of role and worse to consider the other two actors.  I like those actors but not in this type of role.  Do not reboot the Crow, just create another story within the mythos and I love the idea of a female Crow that loses her husband or boyfriend and comes back for vengeance.  Yes Naomi Rapace would do well in that role, because were used to seeing her in that role.

But if were going to stick with a male figure he has to already have a dark look to him or be known for such roles.  Like for instance the guy playing Conan The Barbarian would do fine as a new Crow figure.  Just my 2 copper….

WTF?? Who’s casting this pile of shizzle? Hopefully not a Finn…Ever seen actor Taylor Kitsch? He has that look that would fit, and a slight resemblance to Brandon Lee (if you want to go for that type of look again). Seriously though, this film does not need a remake. But TK get’s my vote.
