Vaughan & Chiang's "Paper Girls" Builds a Familiar Yet Disconcerting World
BBC and BBC America have released two preview clips and a half-dozen images from “Let’s Kill Hitler,” the midseason premiere of Doctor Who that finds the Doctor and his companions in 1930s Berlin in their hunt for Melody. Presumably the tentacled robot-thing is a Teselecta — “Please remain clam while your life is terminated!” — which star Karen Gillan describes as a monster that “goes back in time to try and right the wrongs of the past.” Here’s the official synopsis:
In the desperate search for Melody Pond, the TARDIS crash lands in 1930s Berlin, bringing the Doctor face to face with the greatest war criminal in the Universe. And Hitler. The Doctor must teach his adversaries that time travel has responsibilities – and in so doing, learns a harsh lesson in the cruelest warfare of all.
“We get to learn a lot more about River in ‘Let’s Kill Hitler’ and she’s on her best flirty form; the River I love!” Matt Smith reveals. “It’s certainly Alex’s episode and we had great fun filming the scenes, so hopefully we have some good on-screen chemistry.”
Doctor Who returns Aug. 27 to BBC and BBC America.
