Joe Kosinski’s Horizons, Formerly Oblivion, Testing Female Leads

TRON: Legacy director Joe Kosinski was working on his graphic novel Oblivion for years before that Disney sequel came along, although that gig led him to eventually land the project at Universal with Tom Cruise in the starring role and a healthy blockbuster budget. The story, which is now going under the working title of Horizons, follows Cruise’s Jack as he works to keep our planet safe from alien invaders. Shooting is supposed to get going later this year, which means we’ll start hearing more about the cast very soon.

The production team is apparently testing actresses for the movie’s lead female role. Five well-known names are lined up to appear opposite Cruise, according to Variety: Jessica Chastain, Olivia Wilde, Brit Marling, Noomi Rapace and Olga Kurylenko.

While Horizons may be a more recognizable word as a title, Oblivion is better.
