New Real Steel Poster Debuts: ‘Courage Is Stronger Than Steel’

DreamWorks Pictures has premiered a new poster for Real Steel, the rock ‘em, sock ‘em robot-boxing drama from director Shawn Levy (Night at the Museum) and star Hugh Jackman.

Set in the near-future where boxing has gone high-tech, Real Steel follows Charlie Kenton (Jackman), a washed-up fighter who lost his shot at a title when 2,000-pound, 8-foot-tall robots took over the ring. Now a small-time promoter barely scraping by, he reluctantly teams with his estranged teenage son (Dakota Goyo) to build and train a championship contender.

Real Steel, which also stars Evangeline Lilly, Anthony Mackie and Kevin Durand, opens on Oct. 7.

If the studio had any balls they’d just come right out and call the movie “Rock ‘Em, Sock ‘Em Robots.”

Did Hugh Jackman lose a bet or something? Why is he appearing in this garbage?

Are you kidding?  What could be more awesome than ROBOTS beating the CRAP out of each other!!

    Exactly!

At least it DOESN’T have Shia LeBouf.  Now that’s a plus in my book

Actually I kind of got the impression the story was inspired by the Twilight Zone Episode “Steel” staring Lee Marvin and written by Richard Matheson.  The story is fairly differnt, but the core idea of washed up boxer (who used to be great) has a beaten up old boxing robot is the same, although this one the robot has a Rocky kind of finish, as opposed to Lee Marvin climbing into the ring for Battleing Maxo and getting beat the heck up.
