ABC Buys Beauty And The Beast

 

With the debut of Once Upon a Time a little more than a month away, ABC is returning to the fairy-tale vault with an epic fantasy re-imagining of Beauty and the Beast from Human Target and Jericho writer-producer Jonathan E. Steinberg.

The classic story of love and inner beauty has been adapted numerous times for film and television, notably in Disney’s acclaimed 1991 animated feature and in the 1987-1990 CBS drama starring Ron Perlman and Linda Hamilton (Game of Thrones author George R.R. Martin served as a writer-producer on the series).

According to Deadline, Steinberg will executive produce the new Beauty and the Beast, alongside Mojo Films’ Gary Fleder and ABC Studios’ Mary Beth Basile.
