The CW Rebooting ’80s Cult Drama Beauty And The Beast

Mere days after ABC announced it’s re-imagining Beauty and the Beast, CBS Studios has stepped forward with plans to reboot the 1980s drama based on the same fairy tale for The CW.

The original series, which aired from 1987 to 1990 on CBS, starred Ron Perlman as a mythic man-beast living among community of outcasts beneath New York City who becomes the guardian of a savvy assistant district attorney, played by Linda Hamilton.

TVLine reports the new version will “CW-up the love story” — I’m guessing the central characters will be significantly younger, and there will likely be a love triangle — while adding a procedural twist. Hey, maybe the entrance to the Tunnel World can be at Gossip Girl’s Constance Billard School for Girls and St. Jude’s School for Boys.

Jennifer Levin (Felicity, Brothers & Sisters) and Sherri Cooper (Everwood, Brothers & Sisters) will write the pilot script and serve as executive producers.

Because heaven forbid aiming a TV show at adults.

Better be younger since Sarah Connor and Hellboy just wouldn’t be right anyway.
