Justin Lin Trades Terminator
For Faster, More Furious Cars

Terminator is adrift once again. Justin Lin was all set to direct the next chapter in humanity’s grim, machine-ruled future, but he’s now pulled out of the project, according to Deadline. Lin’s exit can be pegged to his commitment to direct a sixth The Fast and the Furious movie, which has a shooting schedule that conflicts with Terminator‘s.

The production schedule for this attempt to revive the aging sci-fi series is a recent development, with Annapurna Films’ Megan Ellison hoping to start production on the first of two movies by the end of 2012. Lin expressed his willingness to return to the project if those plans can be put on hold until he’s done with The Fast and the Furious. Otherwise, Ellison and fellow producer Arnold Schwarzenegger are going to need to find someone else to take the helm for the next Terminator.

I’d rather have The Fast and the Furious 6, if I’m being completely honest. The fifth one was amazing.
