Nathan Fillion, Kevin Conroy Lead Cast Of <i>Justice League: Doom</i>

TV Guide has revealed the all-star voice cast for Warner Bros. Animation’s Justice League: Doom, a lineup that will no doubt please longtime fans of the DC Animated Universe.

The direct-to-DVD feature, set for release in early 2012, will be a Justice League Unlimited reunion of sorts, with Kevin Conroy, Michael Rosenbaum, Susan Eisenberg and Carl Lumbly reprising their roles as Batman, The Flash, Wonder Woman and Martian Manhunter, respectively. They’ll be joined by Tim Daly (Superman: The Animated Series) and Nathan Fillion (Green Lantern: Emerald Nights), as well as Bumper Robinson as Cyborg.

Announced in April at WonderCon, Justice League: Doom is based on the 2000 JLA story arc “Tower of Babel” by Mark Waid, Howard Porter, Drew Geraci and others. The plot centers on the perceived betrayal of the Justice League by Batman, whose secret files detailing the weaknesses of his colleagues fall into the hands of their enemies.

Executive produced by Bruce Timm and directed by Lauren Montgomery, Justice League: Doom is the last work of writer and producer Dwayne McDuffie, who passed away on Feb. 22.

A trailer will premiere Oct. 14 at New York Comic Con.

o.o MICHAEL ROSENBAUM AS FLASH AGAIN!? I can die happy. This matters so much more to me than him reprising his role as Lex.

And I really hope the Joker’s not in it. With all of them returning, it would suck to have to hear somebody else as the Joker instead of Hamill.

  • Duskknight45

    Sweet!

  • Yanks5179

Well, if it’s supposed to be based on Tower of Babel, I’m hoping they stay true and make it Ra’s al Ghul.

  • http://twitter.com/spiderman1991 Louis Murphy

This sounds like it will be the best DC animated movie ever.

    R.I.P. Dwayne McDuffie

  • RunnerX13

Absolute perfect cast.  Anyone who complains must hand in their geek card.

  • drive

    Hal instead of Kyle?

  • Mr_Wayne

I needed to see this today.

  • drive

Also Cyborg?  Where’s Arthur and Plas?

  • MikeEL

Why can’t they just call it ‘Tower of Babel’? Does everything have to use these vague one-word titles?

  • Jed

Awesome! Although it kinda sucks that they’re not using George Newbern and Phil LaMarr. A full cast reunion would have made my bloody year. Nathan Fillon did a great Hal Jordan for Emerald Knights though.

  • Dretwyman2

Why is HAL in this DVD??? KYLE was the GL in this story line

  • kalorama

Obviously, replacing Kyle with Hal and  and adding Cyborg is meant to make the movie more accessible/familiar to any new DC fans who rode in on the DC 52 relaunch train. Of course, this begs the question of whether Rosenbaum’s Flash will be Wally or Barry.

  • Rod G

Why shouldn’t the Joker be in this?

  • RunnerX13

Newbern was great, but can’t compare to Tim Daily.

  • Tonym

    Why should he?

  • Scud

I’m gonna assume its because Hal is the one that just had a live action movie made about him.

  • http://www.facebook.com/fhb3isback Felix H. Brown, III

Oh, WOW. I cannot wait for this.

  • 0bsessions

Religious conotation, in all likelihood. It can fly in comic books because of the niche audience, but anything you’re trying to market to a mass audience faces an uphill battle when it’s sharing themes with religion. I’m too lazy to look up other examples, but you see this all the time in media.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_QKN5MHOI6VUFOYCTV5REK7M7A4 Jacob

I’ve never read the book, so I’ve no idea what villains are in it. I was just expressing trepidation towards a recast Joker alongside Kevin Conroy.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_QKN5MHOI6VUFOYCTV5REK7M7A4 Jacob

Because Hamill is retired from the role and Conroy with someone other than Hamill feels wrong.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_QKN5MHOI6VUFOYCTV5REK7M7A4 Jacob

We went several years without finding out it was Wally, I see no reason to even mention which one it is.

  • Dek409

Actually, he is revealed to be Wally in the Starcossed JL movie when Batman reveals his identity as well as Wally’s and Superman’s to the rest of the team. There are also other times when Hawkgirl refers to him as Wally.

  • demoncat_4

nice to see the old jl cast reunited again espically kevin doing batman. makes me want to get the dvd more now. and hope the joker if he is in it is done by mark hamil. and if they are taking it from tower of babel. then the villain will be Rhas al ghoul no joker or luthor involved .

  • Getwright

I hope the have David Warner as Ra’s. (if they use ra’s)

  • kalorama

Which (A) has nothing to do with this movie, since it’s not part of the JL/JLU animated continuity and (B)  in no way, shape, or form precludes the possibility that his secret ID will be mentioned in this movie.

  • Joshua-david

Ok….. if they’re trying to make it more like the current Justice League comic, they’re already in a bad way, because Martian Manhunter isn’t a part of the lineup. So far it seems we have 6 members excluding Batman. If you’ve read the last issue of the story arc you know that doesn’t add up to get the result. I don’t understand why these DC Comics based TV shows and Movies always gloss over lesser known characters. It forces the lesser known characters to remain unknown. So far missing from the movie; Aquaman, Plastic Man, and Green Lantern; Kyle Rayner. And potentially Wally West, if they decide to say he’s Barry or simply gloss over it and not mention it. I’m all for them trying to convince us that Cyborg is worthy to be in the Justice League, but wait till Geoff Johns Justice League’s first story arc is done and use that.
Besides Aquaman and Plastic Man are recurring characters in Batman: Brave and the Bold, and the former and Kyle Rayner made infrequent appearances across the DC Animated Universe.

Oh yes, I’m so getting this.  I loved Tower of Bable, and Carl Lumly is the Martian Manhunter for me.

  • Anonymous

    cool.

  • http://twitter.com/TheRealJayNasty Jonathan Nathan

Can I complain that Cyborg is in it and that Hal is the GL instead of Kyle?

  • http://twitter.com/TheRealJayNasty Jonathan Nathan

Why would they have to recast the Joker?

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_QKN5MHOI6VUFOYCTV5REK7M7A4 Jacob

Because Arkham City is the last time Mark Hamill is doing it.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_QKN5MHOI6VUFOYCTV5REK7M7A4 Jacob

The Martian Manhunter is a member of the Justice League, he’s just not a founding member. Stormwatch #1 named him as a member.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_QKN5MHOI6VUFOYCTV5REK7M7A4 Jacob

A: Who said it was? I was pointing out that it wasn’t important and not really a big deal.
B: I said pretty much that same thing.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_QKN5MHOI6VUFOYCTV5REK7M7A4 Jacob

And Starcrossed was the finale for the first Justice League cartoon. Four years after it began. Four years can also be written as “several years”, which is what I said.

  • Mk

Let the batwanking begin. Timm only cares about how cool he is. I don’t think they will be true to Waid’s original. They’ll hack it like they do everything else.

  • RunnerX13

    Of course.

  • PaladinDave

Complaining about the characters is fine, but you really can’t complain about a cast like that.

  • MW

I wonder if Khary Payton will be doing Cyborg.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=665100353 Gh Brooks

It seems to me that there is a concerted effort on DC’s part to undo the Dwayne McDuffie JL…which sucks. No black faces unless totally necessary, keep the scripts as bland as possible…the Good Ole Days, when diversity was a rumor… I loved the Babel storyline, but I’m waiting for them to blow it…

  • 666

I was wondering why they never include Hawkman in these Justice League animated movies.

  • T4

    >>>They’ll be joined by Tim Daly (Superman: The Animated Series) and Nathan Fillion (Green Lantern: Emerald Nights), as well as ***Bumper Robinson as Cyborg.***

    I’m guessing not.

  • Anonymous

    What about Cyborg?
Last I checked he was black.

  • Anonymous

The first JL series was 2 seasons long.

  • Anonymous

Because Hawkman is a JSA member.

  • 666

Ok, thanks. Just thought he was inthe Justice League of America comics I read as a kid.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_V3NNIQDX6Z6A4LVQ6F5IQYP6VE Leo C.

Wait…they replaced Plastic Man with Cyborg?! Now that is a load; he’s one of my favorite characters, and that storyline was the first one after the Morrison run that had him as a full-time member. This is not right…

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_V3NNIQDX6Z6A4LVQ6F5IQYP6VE Leo C.

While I’m not too worried about Hal as the Green Lantern in this story (his movie’s coming soon, and Nathan was great in “Emerald Knights”), I have to complain that they replaced Plastic Man with Cyborg. Seriously; you couldn’t show that PM was brought on as a part of “The Big 8″?

  • Anthony Hankins

To be fair, didn’t he say that after Arkham Asylum…and before?

  • Namtab

Also, for all we know, the part of the original story that dealt with language may not be in the movie, making the “Tower of Babel” a really odd title.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_QKN5MHOI6VUFOYCTV5REK7M7A4 Jacob

    And lasted from 2001 to 2004. Count em, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004.
