Warner Bros. Wants Brad Pitt For Doug Liman’s All You Need Is Kill
But, as Vulture reports, that crater in the director’s schedule may now free him up for an adaptation of the Japanese sci-fi light novel All You Need Is Kill, which Warner Bros. optioned in April 2010. Better still, the studio supposedly has offered Brad Pitt the lead role.
Written by Hiroshi Sakurazaka and illustrated by Yoshitoshi ABe, All You Need Is Kill follows a new recruit in a war between humanity and invading aliens who becomes trapped in a time loop and has to relive the same battle over and over again until he discovers a way to break the cycle.
According to Vulture, a months-long problem with the third act of the screenplay by Dante Harper (Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters) — “it begins to play like a big-screen version of Halo” — was finally resolved to the studio’s satisfaction, leaving executives eager to recruit Pitt.
