"Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" Trailer Officially Released
Monster director Patty Jenkins has confirmed she’s in talks with Marvel to helm the sequel to its smash-hit Thor.
“I can’t say, but yes,” she told Vulture on Monday. “I can’t say anything definitive, but it’s exciting to be in talks with them about it.”
Jenkins, who reportedly beat out such candidates as Breck Eisner, Drew Goddard, James McTeigue and Noam Murro, acknowledged she’s as unlikely choice for the superhero movie, as she doesn’t have experience with big special effects.
“I think Marvel is really ballsy to think outside the box,” she said. “And I think everyone they’ve talked to and hired has been interesting.” The Emmy-nominated Jenkins would be the studio’s first female director.
Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has said the sequel, which opens July 26, 2013, will “take Thor literally to other worlds” and examine the new dynamic between the young thunder god and his father, “as well as what are the broader stakes for The Nine Worlds.”
While Jenkins acknowledged she’s been doing some research for the gig, when asked by Vulture what comics that might involve, she replied, “Right now, I’m reading all of … I can’t say.”
