New Avengers Images Assemble

Two new images from The Avengers have surfaced online, one of a battle-weary Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and Captain America (Chris Evans), the other a behind-the-scenes shot of director Joss Whedon and Scarlett Johansson. They’re joined online by the official versions of the stills we saw last week scanned from the new issue of Entertainment Weekly.

Continuing the epic big-screen adventures started in Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Iron Man 2, Thor and Captain America: The First Avenger, Marvel’s The Avengers is the super hero team up of a lifetime. When an unexpected enemy emerges that threatens global safety and security, Nick Fury, director of the international peacekeeping agency known as S.H.I.E.L.D., finds himself in need of a team to pull the world back from the brink of disaster.

The Avengers also stars Robert Downey Jr., Mark Ruffalo, Jeremy Renner, Samuel L. Jackson, Tom Hiddleston, Clark Gregg, Cobie Smulders and Stellan Skarsgård. It opens May 4, 2012.

That’s because they’re scanned from a magazine, dumbass. Even if they were bigger, they’d be blurry.

I don’t like the look of the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents. They could’ve easily adapted the classic look without any trouble.

Cap and Thor loooking up…at Skrulls?

They’re not scans; they’re the actual pics. I’ve updated with larger versions.

Oh man I really misread that sentence. I read “They’re joined online by the official versions of the stills we saw last week scanned from the new issue of Entertainment Weekly.” as “They’re joined online by the scanned versions from the new issue of Entertainment Weekly.”

And not only did I misread that, I proceeded to quickly make an ass out of myself.

I actually saw most of those in Entertainment Weekly. :)

They always end up not having masks on, it annoys me.  Spider Man did this and now Captain America.  Keep your mask on dude.

  • Ryanc561

And I think he’s saying that Evans and Hemsworth don’t look big enough, as in height and buffness.

  • jose

probably because they want you to see their faces in dramatic moments like the climax of the movie.

Still annoying.  The characters wear a mask.  In the books they don’t take off their masks so people can see their reactions.

  • http://twitter.com/FaenRis Jeremy Humphrey

they aren’t too bad looking other then that they look more like Cobra soldiers.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_QKN5MHOI6VUFOYCTV5REK7M7A4 Jacob

That’s because in the books, their costumes are made out of magical fiber that completely matches their body, including facial expressions. Even if it defies the laws of physics (Spider-Man’s eyes).

At a very young age, I knew as a fact that I was highly attracted to women.  Even in 1st grade I remember me and other boys chasing the girls to gr– … well, you don’t need to know all of that.  But long before puberty, women had a hold on me.

All of that being said, I am unquestionably GAAAAAY for this movie.  These pictures are a celebration of a geek dream that we’re not worthy of.  But we get it anyway.  GOOOOO!

Except S.H.I.E.L.D. are the good guys.

That Loki pic is fantastic.  I like the shot of Captain America in plain clothes too… definitely an old fashioned clothing vibe to keep the man out of time theme going…

Did black widow fart so hard she blew up that building behind her?

This is a perfectly eloquent passage on how I feel as well.
    Well done sir!

Man, that top photo, put yourself in Joss Whedon’s seat.  How long can you stop not looking Scar-Jo in the eyes?

  • cuban_linx

Is Ruffalo gonna voice the Hulk?

  • Justblazing4ever

Evans seems to be okay as Cap, Hemsworth I dunno man, he appears to be too small for Thor. Probably this may change by the time Avengers is released as they say he apparently gonna bulk up slightly.

is it me or does miss johannsson look hawt?

Despite the logical reasons for taking masks off that people have layed in reply to Daniel’s comment, I have to say I agree with him 1000%. Why have a character on screen who wears a mask, if that mask is going to be whipped off at various points of dramatic tension? Look at all the promotional pics for the Captain America movie… not a mask/helmet to be found! It just bugs me. I suppose I’m a geek stickler for certain things.
