Snow White And The Huntsman To Rack Up A Body Count

I’m sure a fair number of you geeks instinctively turned away from Snow White and the Huntsman when you heard that Twilight star Kristen Stewart had been cast in the lead role. That was a mistake, as you’ll learn today.

It appears that Huntsman doesn’t pull any punches when it comes to the action. I think I’m going to let Stewart’s explanation to Box Office Magazine unfurl in full rather than parsing out individual quotes. She really does have a way with words …

“Not to trivialize it at all, but it’s hard to play an action hero who is also the most compassionate person on earth. You can’t hate. You epitomize bleeding hearts, so how the f–k do you do an action movie like that? She is sort of the last shred of hope for her land. She has this ethereal, spiritual connection to her people—she really feels things-and so it’s like we don’t really feel empathy. I’ve had some f–king eye-opening experiences on this movie. I think that to truly care for something isn’t just putting yourself in that situation aesthetically and then going, “Oh my god, I feel so bad for them.” It’s truly not thinking of yourself at all. The way that you fight is that you must take out anything that hurt your people. Basically, I’m fighting evil—I’m fighting the most evil motherf–kers-and it’s fine that they’re being killed. It’s anguish. It’s literally f–king anguish. She takes absolutely no pleasure in ever hurting anything. I’m exhausted right now and I was thinking, “The fight stuff is coming up, maybe that won’t be so bad.” And then I realized that they’re probably going to be my most emotional scenes because I’m killing people and I’m Snow White. It’s a really f–king cool way to approach a movie where so many people die. Not that I’m criticizing violent movies—I love them, generally—but it is nice to do it this way.”

It’s a little ramble-y, sure, but I’m now actually getting excited for this one. Especially with Chris Hemsworth, Ian McShane and Charlize Theron also along for the ride in starring roles. Look for the movie in theaters next June.

As much disdain as I feel for Kristin Stewart, I am more interested in this take on Snow White already, from this one still image, than I am on the Julia Roberts version.

    Wow.. She is… AWESOME!!!….

I just know that she is going to be the most exellent action oriented and at the same time, the most sensitive character that we have seen in a long time.. It fits pefectly that if Snow white would take up arms for her people and nation, she would be as sensitive and spiritual as Kristen Stewart will play Snow white, for this character is a giver, and ‘does’, for others and is moved into action through self sacrifice.. they could not have gotten a better, more talented actress for it…
for Miss Stewart is both tender, soft, Strong, Powerful and incredibly sensitive.. she is pure magic to behold.. one cannot be but fascinated and hooked on her like if she was ambrosia, or a nectar itself, reserved for Gods.. and Gods alone….

She is pure Heaven and it will show, ever so greatly, in this new adaptation of Snow White…

Women everywhere will understand the Suffering and Triumph of this character because it speaks dirrectly to the innate Heroism of womanhood.. and this movie will have an echo of the same kind of self sacrifice as that of.. Joan of Arc…. I can’t wait to see this film!!!

Joseph…seriously… are you taking the piss?  ‘Cause if you are, I commend your ability to stretch it out as much as you have.  : )

  • Jmcreer

It’s amazing just how uncharismatic Stewart is on film.  She is one lucky girl to be where she is… I’ll take a pass on this.

  • Joseph

what a clear way of showing what a retarded, jealous, monkey you are… The only thing that “stretches” here, is your ability to talk shit and not swallow it and shut up, like the way you should.

It’s not her fault that your a disgruntled loser!… :(
