Paranormal Activity’s Oren Peli Producing Next Fright Flick

Oren Peli might not be a household name just yet, but you know his work. He burst onto the scene after writing and directing the original Paranormal Activity in 2007 and then following that up by writing the ultra-creepy Insidious. With Paranormal Activity 3, which Peli produced, raking in huge cash at the box office, it should come as no surprise that his next project is rolling along quite nicely.

Now FilmNation Entertainment has announced that Peli’s most recent screenplay will be directed by Brad Parker. The untitled film “centers on a group of friends who become stranded in an eerie and desolate city. Abandoned years before in the aftermath of a nuclear disaster, nature has begun to reclaim everything. As the sun sets on this radioactive ghost town, inhuman cries cut through the night air. It seems they are not alone.”

Peli wrote the movie and will be producing along with Brian Witten, who worked on Final Destination and Friday the 13th. Mostly filled with new actors, the cast includes Jesse McCartney, Olivia Taylor Dudley, Jonathan Sadowski, Devin Kelley, Nathan Phillips, Dimitri Diatchenko and Ingrid Bolso Berdal. Filming started Oct. 30 in Eastern Europe.

Paranormal Activity 3 is pretty good actually. One of the funniest scenes was where the older sister runs into the invisible creature and is lifted up by her hair.

But I have a question: is the little sister the source of all of the telekinetic events? When she and the camera expert friend of the father are in the bathroom playing Bloody Mary (or whatever is the equivalent of it) the telekinetic pounding on the door starts. Is all the weird shit going on coming from the little sisters mind or is it actually a separate entity?
