Batwing Spied on NYC Rooftop

Back in January we first heard word of Christopher Nolan’s intention to use a version of the Batwing in The Dark Knight Rises called the Wraith. Then, when filming in Pittsburgh we got our first look at how the vehicle might actually appear on screen. But now it seems like the sky-faring transport has made its way to New York City, according to this photo snapped and uploaded to Flickr by srslyguys and spotted by ComicBookMovie.com. In this case, a picture is worth a thousand geek-soaked words. ‘Nuff said.

The Dark Knight Rises, which opens July 20, 2012, stars Christian Bale, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman, Anne Hathaway, Tom Hardy, Marion Cotillard, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Morgan Freeman.

While I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the Nolan version of Batman, and am waiting to be blown away again by the next one, I hope that after a short rest we’ll get to see a film that more closely represents the comic book.  I want gritty AND the fantasy elements that make up the comic book.

Marvel Studios seem to have captured this “tone” quite well with their more recent efforts Thor, Captain America, and Iron Man.  The next series would be well advised to undertake this approach and not try to recapture Nolan’s vision/ approach.

    My two cents…
