Watch the DC Nation Promo

DC Entertainment has released the teaser for DC Nation that aired Friday on Cartoon Network during the premiere of Green Lantern: The Animated Series.

Announced in March, the one-hour programming block will be home to Young Justice and Green Lantern: The Animated Series beginning in the spring, with Beware the Batman joining the lineup in 2013.

However, as we reported last month, DC Nation will also serve as an umbrella for a mixture of animated shorts and live-action interstitials, which are showcased in the promo. You’ll note, among others, shorts featuring Aardman Animation’s claymation Batman, Plastic Man, LEGO Batman, chibi Teen Titans, Gotham Imposters, Amethyst (presumably from Lauren Faust’s Super Best Friends Forever), and some familiar footage from the test for a live-action Blue Beetle series.

I watched the premiere of Green Lantern with my sons (8 and 4) and we enjoyed it. They LOVED the shorts, especially the one from Aardman. The only thing we’re disappointed about is the end of Batman The Brave and the Bold, which was pretty close to perfection.

It makes me want Teen Titans back!

This is a smart move, because it ties the comics to the shows, and spreads the love a bit with the different interpretations. It is important that DC continue to push the advertising side of things in order to maintain higher awareness among consumers. Marvel needs just as big a push through Disney.

I think it would be even better if they actually had superhero comics that could be read by this same target audience though. As it is, I think the gulf between the “chibi” Titans and the current Teen Titans books really expresses the extent to which DC is missing the ball with their New 52 direction.

When their line up of new content slows down, they could also show their off their DC animated movies from the direct to dvd series like the Wonder Woman animated movie (i heard the sales on that one didn’t do too well initially)

Surprised they feature the Robinson version of the JLA instead of the new 52 version in the DC Nation open and closes. But loved seeing the Gary Frank version of the Legion. Fingers crossed that means something:)

Batman the Brave and the Bold is fantastic and underrated.
