Chris Evans Joins The Iceman

From one of fiction’s greatest patriots to the man who trained one of reality’s most notorious hitmen, Chris Evans has been taking some very different roles lately. According to Deadline, Evans will replace the recently departed James Franco in The Iceman, a biopic about mob hitman Richard Kuklinski.

Kuklinski killed his first victim at the age of 14 and went on to become one of the more sought-after hitmen, working for the mafia for 30 years. At the same time, Kuklinski got married and had three kids without anyone being the wiser. Kuklinski, whose Iceman nickname came not only from his cold demeanor, but also his use of cooling agents to throw off time of death estimations, was finally arrested in 1986 after a long investigation. While in prison, he allowed himself to be interviewed many times, which has given a clear and gruesome account of his life. Kulinski died of natural causes while in prison in 2006.

The film is based on Anthony Bruno’s book of the same name, and will be directed by Ariel Vromen, who’s also co-writing and producing. Evans will be playing Robert Pronge, an assassin known as Mr. Softee who not only used an ice cream truck to stay inconspicuous, but also taught Kuklinski a few tricks of the trade.

Kuklinski will be played by Michael Shannon (Boardwalk Empire, Man of Steel), joined by joined by Ray Liotta, Maggie Gyllenhaal and David Schwimmer, among others.

LOL! James Franco is not dead. Supposedly he just wasn’t interested anymore.

How did I know Ray Liotta will be in this?  But it sounds a little weird that the younger Chirs Evans will be the teacher of the much older looking Michael Shannon.
