Walking Dead’s Gale Anne Hurd Developing Area 51 TV Series

The Walking Dead executive producer Gale Anne Hurd is developing an hour-long drama based on Annie Jacobsen’s new nonfiction book Area 51: An Uncensored History of America’s Top Secret Military Base.

Written by Dead Like Me alum Karl Gajdusek, the project is expected to be shopped to networks shortly by Hurd’s Valhalla Entertainment.

Jacobsen’s book chronicles the history of the top-secret U.S. military facility in Nevada, and features interviews with 74 people with firsthand knowledge of the base, 32 of whom actually lived and worked at Area 51.

According to Deadline, the TV series will follow to men working on the base “who are thrust into danger when they uncover secrets that the government will protect at any cost. Gajdusek will serve as showrunner, and executive produce with Hurd. Jacobsen will be a consulting producer.

Hurd is also developing a17th-century pirate drama for FX called Port Royal.

    Don’t bother. I saw the author on CSPAN 8 months ago talking about her book and it’s totally mundane. The science done there is already antiquated. Totally uninteresting. Pure human interest/character garbage.
