Axel-In-Charge: Waid & Samnee on "Black Widow" and the Dawn of the All-New, All-Different Era
The 14-year-old star of True Grit is in the running to play the female lead in Gavin Hood’s adaptation of Orson Scott Card’s Ender’s Game, Variety reports. The role is that of Petra Arkanian, one of the rare females in Battle School who befriends Ender and eventually becomes his most trusted ally.
The film is scheduled to open on March 15, 2013, from Oddlot Entertainment and Summit Entertainment. So far, the only big role that’s been nailed down is that of Ender, who will be played by Hugo‘s Asa Butterfield. Filmmakers are also looking for an older actor to portray Colonel Hyrum Graff, with guys like Harrison Ford on the list of hopefuls.
The beloved sci-fi series follows Ender and Petra as well as a group of other children as their military skills are tested to see how well they can help defend the earth against an alien invasion. The author, Card, is acting as one of the film’s producers to ensure his vision is transferred from the page to the big screen.
