Vaughan & Chiang's "Paper Girls" Builds a Familiar Yet Disconcerting World
Ahead of the trailer’s premiere on Thursday, Entertainment Weekly has unveiled the first look at Paramount Pictures’ Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters, featuring Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton as the fairy tale characters all grown up. And it’s pretty much what you’d expect from a movie about the lost siblings, transformed by the harrowing experience at the gingerbread house into ruthless witch hunters: dark, wide-shouldered leather clothing, and ornate weapons.
The magazine also talks with director Tommy Wirkola (Dead Snow), who concedes that while Hansel & Gretel has some comedic elements, “It’s also very, very dark, and bloodthirsty and there’s a lot of cursing. It’s kind of got a [Quentin] Tarantino feel, really.”
Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters opens March 2.
