Axel-In-Charge: Extending "Secret Wars," Excitement for a "Totally Awesome Hulk"
The brains behind the Marvel universe is joining forces with the screenwriter of Real Steel. Variety reports that Dan Gilroy has been tasked with turning Stan Lee’s recent creation The Annihilator into a big-screen hero aimed at Asian markets.
“Words can’t express how excited I am about this project,” Lee said. “It’s based on the most incredibly original and unique superhero I’ve created in a long time.” The character is a Chinese man who becomes a superhero and returns home to “mete out justice.”
Gilroy, who also penned the upcoming Bourne Legacy, is excited about the project, which is being produced by Magic Storm Entertainment, a studio co-created by Lee’s POW! Entertainment. “Stanis straight-up at the top of his game,” the writer said, “and it’s a joy to have a hand in bringing this to the screen.”
While the film is being aimed at Asian audiences, expect it to make its way to the United States sooner rather than later.
