Axel-In-Charge: Extending "Secret Wars," Excitement for a "Totally Awesome Hulk"
It wouldn’t be a week of movie news without some Ender’s Game casting developments. After announcements that Hugo‘s Asa Butterfield will play Ender Wiggin and Hailee Steinfeld is in the running for Petra Arkanian, we now get word from Heat Vision that Ben Kingsley is in talks for a role.
The part isn’t specified, although the blog describes the role as “a legendary war hero presumed to be long dead.” There was talk that Oddlot Entertainment and director Gavin Hood are eyeing older actors like Harrison Ford to play Hyrum Graff, but Kingsley’s role seems to be more along the lines of Mazer Rackham.
The film, based on the beloved sci-fi novel by Orson Scott Card, follows the exploits of young Ender as he enters battle school in an attempt to discover whether he has the skills to help defend the Earth against alien invaders. Filming is expected to start in February for a March 15, 2013, opening.
