Marvel's "Jessica Jones" Will Go "All the Way Dark," Promise Rosenberg & Loeb
Showtime and Shameless producer John Wells are developing an hourlong drama based on the acclaimed 2010 Australian crime film Animal Kingdom.
Winner of the Sundance Film Festival Grand Jury Prize, the movie follows a teenager who, after the death of his mother, is forced to live with his estranged mother, the matriarch of a notorious crime family. As her three sons deal drugs, hide from renegade detectives and avoid the legitimate police, her naive grandson becomes a liability in a clan held together by loyalty and lies.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the project will be written by Johnathan Lisco (Southland), and executive produced by Wells and the film’s writer/director David Michôd and its producer Liz Watts.
