Vaughan & Chiang's "Paper Girls" Builds a Familiar Yet Disconcerting World
That Harrison Ford sure does seem to be running afoul of a lot of aliens lately. From crystal skulls to Wild West invaders to, now, the buggers of Orson Scott Card’s Ender’s Game universe. Talk had been circulating for a while that Odd Lot Entertainment was looking for someone like Ford to fill the role of child-army trainer Colonel Hyram Graff, but now Variety reports the production company has landed the man himself.
And he’s not the only-big name announcement joining director Gavin Hood’s adaptation: Abigail Breslin of Little Miss Sunshine has also signed on as Ender’s older sister Valentine Wiggin.
The story revolves around Ender Wiggin (played by Asa Butterfield), a prodigy when it comes to military tactics, heading to space school to learn how to fight alien invaders dubbed “buggers.” There he not only learns important alien-fighting skills but also befriends a girl named Petra Arkanian (True Grit‘s Hailee Steinfeld). Ben Kinglsey, Jimmy “Jax” Pinchak, Aramis Knight, Moises Arias, Suraj Parthasarathy, Khylin Rhambo and Conor Carroll have also been cast. Ender’s Game will be released by Summit Entertainment on March 15, 2013.
