Vaughan & Chiang's "Paper Girls" Builds a Familiar Yet Disconcerting World
As Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance revs toward its Feb. 17 release, expect more and more information to be revealed, much of which will come through the movie’s new official website, which just launched this week.
As of now, there isn’t a whole lot of new information about the sequel, which features Nic Cage as Johnny Blaze/Ghost Rider and Crank co-directors Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor at the helm, but there will be. The site reflects the sense of humor seen in the trailers and clips, as the loading screen features Ghost Rider spraying fire back and forth from, well, his nether regions. Once the site is launched, if you let the cursor rest too long on any block of text — like cast or crew bios — digital fire spreads out in a circular fashion. The animated gifs are also pretty fun!
The most interesting bits are still in the works, though. There’s a menu that promises both a video game and a 3D video stunt clip will be coming soon.
Here’s the plot of the film, according to the site: “Johnny still struggling with his curse as the devil’s bounty hunter is hiding out in a remote part of Eastern Europe when he is recruited by a secret sect of the church to save a young boy (Fergus Riordan) from the devil (Ciaran Hinds). At first Johnny is reluctant to embrace the power of the Ghost Rider, but it is the only way to protect the boy and possibly rid himself of his curse forever.”
