X-Men-Based "Legion" Ordered to Series on FX
TV, Comic Books
Among the casualties of the 2006 UPN/WB merger that spawned The CW was a mystery pilot from Rockne O’Bannon, creator of the cult-favorite sci-fi series Farscape. Now more than six years after Cult got the ax, The CW has greenlit the project once again.
According to Deadline, Gossip Girl co-creators Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage will produce the pilot, which centers on a young female production assistant on a popular television series — it’s called Cult, naturally — who, after a rash of disappearances and a likely murder, joins with blogger to investigate rabid fans who may be re-creating crimes seen on the show.
This version of Cult is radically different from what O’Bannon set up at The WB in 2005: The original take focused on two brothers, one of whom is a devotee of Cult. When he goes missing, his sibling investigates, discovering the show’s fan community might have something to do with the disappearance.
