New Image of Andrew Garfield in The Amazing Spider-Man

As you might expect, Entertainment Weekly‘s 2012 preview — the issue with Christian Bale as Batman on the cover — is shaping up to be a treasure trove of movie stills, including a new image of Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker in The Amazing Spider-Man.

Thanks to Caleb Hamilton, Comic Book Movie and the magazine’s iPad edition, we now have a high-res look at the photo, along with a blurb that doesn’t tell us anything about director Marc Webb’s franchise reboot that we didn’t already know.

“Ultimately what this movie is about is a kid who grows up looking for his father and finds himself,” Webb tells the magazine. “And that’s a Spider-Man story we haven’t seen before.”

Opening July 3, the Columbia Pictures film also stars Emma Stone, Rhys Ifans, Martin Sheen, Sally Field, Irrfan Khan, Denis Leary, Chris Zylka, Campbell Scott, C. Thomas Howell, Embeth Davidtz and Annie Parisse.

stop removing his mask in the fight scenes, i mean wtf, how many times have you read the comic and seen spidey fight without his mask?

  • “Puck” the movie

Why does the greatest costume ever need tweaking? How do you explain it? Spider-man’s costume is iconic, what kind of a-hole thinks they could improve on the design with “some minor adjustments.”

It’s the same thought process of those, who thought no one could take Green Lantern seriously with his trademark white gloves, then made steaming turd of a movie that crippled the character’s cinematic future.

Yes. Gloves. That’s what was missing from the movie.

Sigh, we really do earn our fanboy reputation, don’t we?

It’s the comic book movie rule. The mask always have to come off at some point, especially if it covers the entire face.
