Locke & Key Screenwriter Sets Up CIA Drama The Asset at Fox

Josh Friedman with Lena Headey on the set of "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles"

Most of those who’ve seen the Locke & Key pilot, based on the acclaimed IDW Publishing comic by Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez, think the TV drama should be blowing us away every week. Alas, it wasn’t meant to be. However, rejection by Fox hasn’t stopped screenwriter Josh Friedman, who also penned The Black Dahlia and War of the Worlds and served as executive producer of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles.

In fact, Deadline reports, Friedman already has another pilot set up at Fox.

The Asset centers on a female agent in the New York City office of the CIA, and is being called a mix of drama and action. While the brief description sounds an awful lot like some other shows, Friedman will most likely put the kind of spin on it that has made Locke & Key screenings so popular and gave Sarah Connor such a big an following.

Friedman has signed a  three-year overall deal with the studio to develop new projects, such as Locke & Key and The Asset; this proves the network firmly believes in the quality of the man. Indeed he’s the one who created Cameron Phillips in Terminator : The Sarah Connor Chronicles, wonderfully played by Summer Glau.
I wish Summer Glau played the lead role but we know that she is commited with TNT’s drama pilot “Scent of the Missing”; though i’m sure Friedman though about hiring her for the role.
FYI fansite Summer Glau Wiki has published an exclusive interview of Susannah Charleson, author of the book TNT’s pilot is based from; check it here :
