Doctor Who’s Russell T. Davies
to Pen Aliens Vs. Wizards For BBC
Before he helped to rejuvenate the BBC sci-fi series Doctor Who, which had been effectively shelved in 1989, Russell T. Davies wrote for children’s television. According to Variety, he’s returning to that world with a new 12-episode series called Aliens Vs. Wizards.
The series stars Tom Clarke, a youthful wizard who finds himself at odds with a nefarious alien race called the Nekross.
“We’re joining genres, too — the show’s a wild, funny, thrilling and sometimes scary collision of magic and science fiction,” Davies said. “Writing for children is the biggest challenge of all, and I think CBBC (which will air the show in the U.K.) stands right at the heart of broadcasting.”
The series is expected to air this fall in the U.K.
