Liam Neeson Confirms Rumors of Dark Knight Rises Set Visit

The funny thing about Dark Knight Rises rumors is that, much like Ra’s al Ghul, they never really die.

Take, for instance, the report in mid-June that Liam Neeson, who played the aforementioned antagonist in Batman Begins, was spotted in London shooting a cameo for the final film in Christopher Nolan’s trilogy. That’s the same Liam Neeson who, three months earlier, denied having any involvement in the movie.

Well, Neeson’s back in the spotlight, promoting his new action-thriller The Grey, and he’s now confirming, at least in part, those months-old rumors.

“I can tell you nothing about Dark Knight Rises, seriously,” the actor tells Showbiz Spy. “I was on set for maybe an hour-and-a-half and the director didn’t tell me anything of what it’s about. So, I’m being very honest when I say I have no idea what’s going to happen.”

Well, there you have it. Sort of. It sounds more like Neeson was talking about a set visit rather than a cameo shoot. But we’ll all see what, if any, Neeson has in The Dark Knight Rises come July 20.

The film stars Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne, Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle, Tom Hardy as Bane, Joseph Gordon-Levitt as John Blake, Michael Caine as Alfred, Gary Oldman as Commissioner Gordon and Morgan Freeman as Lucius Fox.

Hope it’s just a flashback… reoccuring villains in movies are a bad idea… Just focus on Bane.

Bane is one of my favorite Batman villains and he has been woefully misrepresented in film. Ras al Ghul actively being involved in this particular movie would only diminish Bane.

Gary Oldman got his first Oscar nomination today! Which means the oscar winners/nominees in the Dark Knight Rises are:

    Christian Bale: Oscar Winner
    Michael Caine: Oscar Winner
    Morgan Freeman: Oscar Winner
    Marion Cotillard: Oscar Winner
    Gary Oldman: Oscar Nominee
    Anne Hathaway: Oscar Nominee
    and (probably in a cameo):
    Liam Neeson: Oscar Nominee

Christopher Nolan and Heath Ledger have proven that a Superhero film can be taken seriously by the Oscars.

Every actor in Hollywood was begging Nolan to be the villain in the Dark Knight sequel. They all wanted to be the next Heath Ledger by having an Oscar winning role in a film that grosses over a billion dollars and becomes one of the most successful films of all time. It’s such a shame that Heath Ledger died because the Dark Knight gave him the Oscar and the box office, which meant every filmmaker (who wants the Oscar-winning Heath Ledger) and every studio (who wants the box office Heath Ledger) would allow him to get ANY role he wanted. Usually an actor has to take a paycut and to a pretentious and artsy, indie film to get an Oscar nom/win, but Ledger broke the mold.

I hope Nolan and crew don’t get to cocky and make a bad film. The Dark Knight Rises can be a worthy successor to the Dark Knight, but I feel that with all the articles and speculation going around about the film, everyone knows too much and the film and it may fall short. I hope I’m wrong.
