"Justice League": Exploring How Superman Returns (Again)
Film, Comic Books
When it comes to daredevils in film, the distinction usually falls on stunt people, and the occasional actor who risks bumps and bruises to perform their own action sequences. But directors Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor have made a name for themselves by being just as crazy while making films like Crank, Crank: High Voltage and Gamer.
Their outside-the-box mentality when it comes to getting shots might have been what drew Columbia Pictures to hiring them to helm the second Ghost Rider film Spirit of Vengeance. It’s definitely something that star Nic Cage admired about them. “Mark and Brian are both very camera oriented,” Cage said in the behind-the-scenes clip below. “They both operate, they both know where to put the camera. The way Mark Neveldine shoots, he really risks his life doing these things on Rollerblades with the camera and hanging off wires.”
“This dude is nuts,” Idris Elba added about Neveldine. Check out the video and see for yourselves just how crazy they are. And don’t miss Comic Book Resources’ recent interview with Neveldine and Taylor about Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance.
Here’s the official synopsis of the film, which arrives in theaters Feb. 17:
Nicolas Cage returns as Johnny Blaze in Columbia Pictures’ and Hyde Park Entertainment’s Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance. In the successor to the worldwide hit Ghost Rider, Johnny – still struggling with his curse as the devil’s bounty hunter – is hiding out in a remote part of Eastern Europe when he is recruited by a secret sect of the church to save a young boy (Fergus Riordan) from the devil (Ciaran Hinds). At first, Johnny is reluctant to embrace the power of the Ghost Rider, but it is the only way to protect the boy – and possibly rid himself of his curse forever. Directed by Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor. Screenplay by Scott M. Gimple & Seth Hoffman and David S. Goyer. Story by David S. Goyer. Based on the Marvel Comic. Produced by Steven Paul, Ashok Amritraj, Michael De Luca, Avi Arad, and Ari Arad.
