New Trailer Debuts For Lockout

IGN.com has premiered a new trailer for Lockout — aka Lock-Out, aka MS One: Maximum Security — the Luc Besson-produced sci-fi action film that’s been described as Escape From New York … in space. Or Taken … in space. The operative term here is in space.

The movie stars Guy Pearce (L.A. Confidential, Prometheus) as a government agent wrongfully convicted of a crime who’s given one chance at redemption: to travel to outer space to rescue the U.S. president’s daughter (Lost‘s Maggie Grace) from a prison satellite overtaken by violent inmates.

In short, the premise is delightfully ludicrous.

James Mather and Stephen St. Leger directed Lockout from a script they wrote with Besson. The film, which opens April 20 in the United States, also stars Peter Stormare, Joseph Gilgun, Vincent Regan and Jacky Ido.

Whatever happened to SuperMax, aka the Green Arrow movie?

Does this sound like we are recycling several dozen Schwarznegger/Snipes/Van Damme( you fill in the gap) fims from the 80′s? Of course Luc Besson is only producing this time so it could go better than expected.
