The Biggest Superhero Films That Didn't Happen, Part 2
Comic Books, Film
Guys like Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Bruce Willis and Channing Tatum are used be being human action figures on screen, but thanks to Hasbro’s new line of G.I. Joe: Retaliation toys, now they really can be. In preparation for the film’s Nov. 12 premiere, the toymaker will have a number of new figures that debuted over the weekend at Toy Fair.
The figures start appearing in stores this summer and will be broken down into several waves. The first will include Roadblock (Johnson), Duke (Tatum), Cobra Commander, Snake Eyes, Storm Shadow, Zartan, Red Ninja, a Cobra Trooper and a Joe Trooper. The rest of the waves weren’t completely revealed, but we did see glimpses of Battle Kata Roadblock and Ninja Duel Snake Eyes from the second, Joe Colton (Willis), Lady Jaye (Adrianne Palicki), a Cyber Ninja, a Dragon Ninja and an Alley Viper from the third. The fourth will include Blind Master (RZA) and Kim Arashikage better known as Jinx (Elodie Yung) figures while the fifth boasts a Night Viper and a member of Cobra’s Red Guard.
The Jon Chu-directed film follows up 2009’s G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra by introducing new members of the international peacekeeping organization and pitting them against trumped=up charges from within their own government as well as the terrorist actions of Cobra. The buzz on this flick has been getting louder after the Rock-heavy trailer that debuted during the Super Bowl earlier this month.
