CBS’s Elementary Tracks Down Jonny Lee Miller For Holmes

You can’t keep a classic character down. Much like Dracula and Beauty and the Beast, there’s a lot of heat around Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Watson. Of course, there’s the pair of films starring Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law as well as the BBC series Sherlock with Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman, but CBS has its own version called Elementary set in present-day New York City.

Deadline reports the network has signed former Eli Stone star Jonny Lee Miller to play Holmes in the pilot, written by Robert Doherty and directed by Michael Cuesta (Dexter, Homeland).

If anything, the more American Elementary is, the less it should be seen as a copycat of the very British Sherlock and more as another different adaptation of Doyle’s creation.

Totally commented on this already…but…He was great in Eli Stone, and I believe he will be a fantastic fit for Mr. Holmes.
