Arrow Adds O.C.’s Willa Holland

On the heels of Wednesday’s news about the addition of Katie Cassidy as Dinah “Laurel” Lance, Deadline reports The O.C. alum Willa Holland has been cast in The CW’s Arrow pilot.

Created by Green Lantern screenwriters Greg Berlanti and Marc Guggenheim and Fringe co-executive producer Andrew Kreisberg, the drama is a “very provocative and sophisticated and edgy” take on DC Comics’ Green Arrow that stars Stephen Amell (Hung) as young Oliver Queen. After spending five years shipwrecked on an island in the South China Sea, the wealthy bad boy returns to Star City with a mastery of the bow and a determination to make a difference.

Holland will play Oliver’s 17-year-old sister Thea — a leaked casting breakdown describes her as “Lolita-esque” — a celebutante testing the boundaries of acceptable behavior. While she’s delighted to have her brother back in her life, she’s unprepared for his new, more responsible role in the family, restricting her access to boys and drugs. Susanna Thompson (Once and Again) has already been cast as Oliver and Thea’s mother Moira, and David Ramsey (Dexter) as Oliver’s bodyguard John Diggle.

The 20-year-old Holland recently had a recurring role on The CW’s Gossip Girl, and appeared in the films Legion and Straw Dogs.
