Who’s Returning For ‘New Take’ on Transformers? No One, Apparently

When the announcement was made that Michael Bay would return with Paramount Pictures for a fourth Transformers movie, the director revealed the new installment would be a reimagining. Now we learn from actor Josh Duhamel the cast from the previous films apparently won’t be involved with what the studio calls “a new take on the Transformers franchise.”

“I don’t think anybody’s doing it,” Duhamel told E! Online. “I know Shia [LaBoeuf]‘s not doing it. I don’t think Tyrese or Rosie [Huntington-Whiteley] or anybody else is doing it.” He went on to say that he hadn’t been contacted by Paramount at all about the film.

Bay will first tackle his pet project Pain and Gain starring Dwayne Johnson and Mark Wahlberg, and then move on to the next giant robot film, set for June 29, 2014, release.

The worst thing about the last three films were the cast, particularly Shia. The only actors who were OK were the parents – mum was always good for a laugh.

I just hope they focus on making the robots three dimensional characters, ’cause I couldn’t give a rat’s ass about humans and Bay’s shallow, unconvincing characterisations.

I wouldn’t be surprised if it was a prequel trilogy about the fall of cybertron, but I don’t think the movie could work without humans to some extent.

Bay is directing. Expect less characterizations.

I can’t take this seriously. It’s still not a “new take” if you’ve got the same director. It’s going to feel like the same films because they never thought they did the film wrong the first time.

I’d rather Tyrese and Josh were the only ones returning, if any.
