Major "Justice League" #50 Revelations, Changes Lead Into "DC Universe: Rebirth"
John McClane’s never been good at staying connected with his family. The original Die Hard found him visiting his estranged wife during a Christmas party that was taken over by terrorists, while 2007’s Live Free or Die Hard teamed him with his estranged daughter Lucy. Well, guess who he’s joining forces with in next year’s A Good Day to Die Hard? His estranged son Jack!
Fox spent a good deal of time casting just the right person to play the role, with rumors pegging D.J. Cotrona, James Badge Dale, Liam Hemsworth and Aaron Paul as frontrunners. However, according to The Hollywood Reporter, the part has gone to Jai Courtney.
Best known for playing the gladiator Varro on Starz’s hit Spartacus: Blood and Sand, Courtney just finished filming One Shot with Tom Cruise. His “hardass” Jack McClane character will find himself teaming with dear old dad in Moscow to keep each other alive and make the world safe for democracy.
Those are some pretty high stakes to be fighting for, but considering John McClane’s track record, Jack will probably be all right. Directed by John Moore (Max Payne, Behind Enemy Lines), A Good Day to Die Hard premieres Feb. 14, 2013.
